red, black& white (after Terry Frost)
This mirror is a transcription of a 1976 work on paper by Sir Terry Frost, RA. This is the first of a series of exclusive pieces made by Possible Mirror for IAP Fine Art. It is shown here with an original Frost print, Camberwell Green, which is also available from the gallery.
The mirror consists of three joined squares, arranged as in the original work. There are two painted panels and one mirror set within solid ash wood frames. Both panels are hand painted in Liquitex acrylic paint which was built up in layers, traces of the underlying colours have been allowed to remain. The mirror in the third frame is 4mm thick with polished edges. The ash frames are all hand finished with white stain and liming wax. The reverse of the work is fitted with split battens at the top of the red panel for easy, flush wall mounting. This mirror is unique, stamped, signed and dated on the reverse.
Size: 1100 x 830 x 35mm. Mirror panel: 380 x 380mm. Weight 4kg.
