kintsugi no.1
This is our first mirror referencing the Japanese technique kintsugi, used to repair ceramics. The frame was coated with gesso and then painted with washes of colour, finally it was varnished and waxed. The resulting surface is reminiscent of glazed ceramic.
The corner miters were then incised and filled with a gold powder paste.
A 460 x 460mm mirror with polished edges is floated within the frame. The inside of this tray frame is painted a vibrant blue, Smalt by Little Green. The frame is fitted with a split batten on the reverse to facilitate easy, flush hanging. This mirror is unique and is signed, stamped and dated.
Size: 650 x 650mm. Weight 4kg. Price: £900.00
