after albers II

The second mirror in an ongoing set of variations on the work of Josef Albers (1888 - 1976), specifically his Homage to the Square.
This version references a painting from 1954, Clearing Up. A rose gold mirror is set within two nested squares, hand painted on board with Liquitex acrylic. The paint has been applied with a palette knife, using the same technique as Albers himself.

The mirrored panel is framed in poplar wood hand painted in Downpipe from Farrow & Ball. The pink tinted mirror has polished edges and measures 400 x 400mm in size. On the reverse of the frame is an integral split batten enabling the work to hang both securely and flush to the wall. This mirror is unique, and is signed and dated on the reverse.

Size: 700 x 700 x 32mm. Weight 4kg. Price: £1,150.00
